3.2c "Guns" TimelineToday, we are in our 2nd day of LT 3.2 (the 2nd Amendment or "Right to Bear Arms". We are going to look at various resources that represent different events (documents, laws, court cases, events, etc.) over the course of the History of Guns. Your task is to create a Timeline that has at least 5 events that you feel are important. If you are a "Guns Rights" person, I would expect that your timeline would be different than a "Gun Control" person's timeline would be. You can use my 3 resources AND YOUR DEVICE (Internet) to create your own timeline. This is a 10 point "Portfolio" assignment!!! I have attached the .ppt slides as well as copies of the 3 handouts in the .pdf file below. EH ![]()

3.2a Two 2nd Amendment Videos + 3.2b D.C. v. Heller (2008) and McDonald v. Chicago (2010) First, as a BellRinger, we reviewed the 3.1 FA "Group Quiz" from Monday/Day Before. Since these scores were NOT very good, I wanted to take some time to review and reteach some concepts. Second, we are starting our 2nd LT for Unit Three, and it is about GUNS!!! 3.2a had us watch and take "notes" from 2 videos (and we used some classtime to review and discuss and write info on board...) 3.2b was supposed to be a segment where you read two case summaries and answered 2 questions, but there was only really time to get the 2 questions answered in the form of "Notes". I have included the answers to those 2 questions within the .pdf below. EH ![]()
3.1g Assembly/Petition + 3.1 GROUP QUIZ F.A. Well, WELCOME BACK FROM SPRING BREAK!!! Today, we are resuming our 3.1 Learning Target AS IF we didn't just take a 10 day break, lol, with the last 2 parts of the First Amendment - Assembly and Petition. There is also a "hidden" right in the 1st and you'll learn about it today as well. First, we worked in Groups to use textual evidence from a 2 page reading to either SUPPORT (if TRUE) or OPPOSE (if FALSE) 4 statements on a half-page worksheet about the Rights of Assembly and Petition. Groups would then write their text evidence on large white posters and we reviewed the answers in class. Next, we took a 15 questions Formative Assessment over all of LT 3.1. However, since we just had a 10 day break, I decided to allow you to use the group and any type of notes, assignments or device to answer the 15 ?s. ![]()
3.1rp Reading Practice + Extra Time for 3.1e (Student Speech Poster)![]() Hey, I was absent this day myself!!! (Daughter Ava was marching with the GC Band at DISNEY in Orlando, Florida!!!) We did two basic things today: 1) We had an "ACT-like Reading Practice" with 2 articles and 8 questions that could be done easily with a sub... 2) We had extra time to finish the "3.1e Student Speech Poster" assignment from Thursday. THEN WE TOOK A TEN DAY SPRING BREAK!!! SO BE SURE TO FORGET ALL THAT YOU LEARNED, LOL!!! There is no file to open for today. 3.1e Student Speech/Press Rights Yesterday, we had a lesson hat was about Americans' Rights for Free Speech/Press. This would be the "adult" standard, etc. Today, we are going to look at YOU!!! Seriously, we are going to look at the 4 Supreme Court cases that are about STUDENT SPEECH/PRESS rights. We used the group format to read and annotate an article that summarizes the effects of 4 different SCOTUS cases and how schools can and cannot regulate student expression. After we got the right information, which was reviewed within the class, each student needs to complete the "3.1e Student Speech Poster" (which is a 15 point portfolio assignment) by completing the following for each of the four cases: *Summarize the effects of that case on schools ability to regulate student speech/press. **Create an image or drawing that represents each case ***Be COLORFUL!!! ![]()

3.1c Video/WTP “Freedom of Speech/Press” + 3.1d Schenck v. United States AND Brandenburg v. Ohio #1) I want to thank you for visiting this website. I cannot really tell who visits it and who doesn't visit it when they are absent, etc. IF YOU WILL SHOW ME THIS (!@#$%^&*) ON YOUR DEVICE, I WILL GIVE YOU A BRAVES BUCK!!! #2) Today, we are still in the First Amendment, but we are moving on from Freedom of Religion (yesterday) to Freedom of Speech/Freedom of the Press (a.k.a. Freedom of Expression). We have 2 assignments and yours are in the green folder. 3.1c Video/WTP “Freedom of Speech/Press” had a small set of questions from a video or from pages 207-213 of the WTP textbook. and 3.1d Schenck v. United States AND Brandenburg v. Ohio had two court case summaries to read and some questions to answer questions. Easy Peasy!!!
3.1aa Video/WTP Religion Text Summary + 3.1b Group Religion Scenarios Today, we started out with 3.1aa which was 2 questions from a short video (:06) and 2 questions from the WTP textbook. Then we formed groups and we completed 3.1b "Group Religion Scenarios" within groups before reviewing the answers.
3.1a Notes + Unit Three No Words Poster I was absent for some dental appointments, but basically did 2 things: 1) We took 1 slide of "Notes" about a concept called "Selective Incorporation" and 2) We had a SOLO assignment to draw another "No Words Poster" over the 5 Learning Targets from Unit 3. NOTE: This was either DUE on Monday or DUE for Homework. I will accept them on Tuesday, but... IF YOU WERE PRESENT ON MONDAY AND TUESDAY, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO TURN THEM IN LATE. ![]()
